Born Tarique Jamal, Tarique in the arabic language meaning "STAR" and also Tarique being an African American Navigator that helped Columbus disover America. These meanings and dates of history is why Dj Tarique is so unique. @ The young age of five, Tarique was considered a true musical genius, showcasing his skills as a skilled percussionist & pianist, very much far more advanced then most students his age, After long years of studying classical music along with Jazz & Soul @ 13 Tarique begin to study the art of DJing (Disc Jocky) watching various Dj Jam Master Jay videos (RIP) and listening to Upbeat Dj Uncle Al party tapes (RIP), Dj Tarique also begin to take interest in a young Dj by the name of DJ JUS who is one of the youngest Dj's to ever touch the turntables and make an impact in the industry @ that young age.
"I thought is Jus was so much younger then me, I could do what he's doing just as good or better" After begging his parents for the basics 2 turntables, a mixer and a microphone, Tarique ended up with a computer simulated program "SPUNTRIX" where he begin to learn how to craft his blends & mixes, after SPUNTRIX, 2 Belt Drive Turntables and 2 Gemini CDJ's, DJ T. was ready to put his bedroom Dj Skills into action. After Djing for various family events, such as Family Reunions, Wedding & Showers, Dj T. begin to hang out with next door neighbor who let DJ T. spin @ house parties him and his friends would put on, not only did this give Dj T. a sense for mxing Live for crowds but also taught Dj T. how to Juggle Reggae Music, this also taught DJ T. about Dj/Audio Equipment @ how to use it, next Dj T. got a break in High School to start Djing various Block Parties building his name as a popular Dj @ his school then came the NIGHTCLUBS, Dj T. begin to Dj @ various under 18 clubs in Downtown Hollywood FL. including Club Merridean, Club Zxit, & Ginger Bay, Durring this time Dj T. also got really involved in the art of "MIAMI STREET DJING" A form of djing created and popularized by Dj Uncle Al & The Sugar Hill Dj's, Jam Pony Express Dj's, Viscious Funk Dj's and so many more MEGA Dj Groups, The Art of Miami Street Djing base is Similar to the start of the New York Street Dj Culture started by Kool Herc & GrandMaster Flash but doesn't include the skills of turntablism such as, Cutting, Stratching, Mixing & Blending, Something Dj T. had mastered in his bedroom with many hours of pratice. Instead the Miami Dj Culture was based on SOUND! mega Bass, clear & loud Mids, & screaming Highs, various Dj Groups would what you call "SET DOWN" meaning unload a UHAL rental truck loaded from front to back with speakers, then these DJ groups (Speakers Boys & Jocks) would set up there monster sound systems and Mic Check each & every song..Mic checking is riding a song, word for word cutting in and out of the song with the cross fader. Dj T. begin to learn the concepts and skills of the Miami Street Dj game and begin to do parties (JAMS) @ the Martin Luther King fest., The Dania American Legion Hall, The North Miami National Guard Armory, bleinding his skills of mixing with voice skills bring a very unique sound to the streets if miami, Also being a student of the Game Dj T. always respected his elder Dj's in the business..Leading to DJ Tarique's transition to the life of "SOUTH BEACH" DJ.T now turned into Dj Tarique taking on his government name taking from one of his IDOLS "DJ KHALED" who's birth name is Khaled Khaled. DJ Tarique got his first break when meeting a former Go Go Dancer turned Club Promoter Adina. At the time Dj Tarique started working as a club promoter/Host for Adina's Husband Adrian on South Beach @ Club Bambu & La Rumba on the famous Washington ave, after hearing Dj Tarique do a hip hop set @ one of there crazy Friday Night Parties, They hired Dj Tarique as there resident Dj giving him the oppurtunity to Dj,Promote & Build his following @ clubs such as BAMBU, ONDA LOUNGE, SPICE, LA RUMBA, & CLUB STATE. At this time Dj Tarique begin to make a buzz as one of the newest hot Hip Hop Dj's on South Beach & was offered a Wensday & Saturday Night Residency @ the "WORLD FAMOUS" CLUB DEEP where one of the South Florida number one radio stations WPOD Power 96 adopted Dj Tarique as one of there own, featuring a bio about him on there stations website and featuring him as one of there featured club Mixers, Also Dj Tarique was given the oppurtunity to Dj live on the air with Power 96 @ Club Deep for there annual NEW YEARS EVE BASH 2005, from then on it was a great 2006 for DJ TARIQUE next on meeting DJ FREESTYLE STEVE Official Dj for super producer TIMBALAND & His Mosley Group imprint including Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado, & Official Dj for R.Kelly, Freestyle Steve gave Tarique the chance to show case his skills @ CLUB DECO a new South Beach Hot Spot for various celebrity parties, Tarique became co-resident Dj & filled in for Freestyle Steve when he was doing shows on the road. Dj Tarique then went on to do various celebrity parties & events for some Hip Hop Superstars & Pro Atheletes like Trina, Trick Daddy, Lil Wayne, Birdman, Outkast, Lloyd, Petey Pablo, Chris Brown, Neyo, Jazzy Pha, Young Joc, Brian Mckinny, Mike Mckenzie, Steve Jackson, Santana Moss..etc Being found in Dj Booths from The World Famous "CLUB MANSION" to "SOBE LIVE", If it was South Beach it was Dj Tarique, Dj Tarique also took on his next step "RADIO" doing a weekly Drive @ 5 mixshow each & every week day on The All New 88.7fm The Blaze Miami radio station, along with a Thursday Hip Hop & Reggae show 2-4pm on 101.1 DA One Fm Radio.
