About a week after the 'Vote by Text' and online voting kick-off, organizers of the first ever Carolina Music Awards are thrilled with the initial level of voter participation and ticket sales. The awards event is scheduled to take place on June 28, 2008 at the Progress Energy Center in downtown Raleigh, N.C.
This year's category award winners will in part be determined by the level of votes cast through text messaging. The fate of the nominated artists (ranging from Country singers to Rock Bands, Hip Hop and R&B artist) rests in the hands of their supporters. Each artist is assigned a unique code that voters use to cast their selection from mobile phones or they can simply go to www.CarolinaMusicAwards.com and vote. Nominees will have until mid June to garner active support from their communities in an effort to take the top seed in their category. So far, more than 2000 votes have been confirmed.
National and regional sponsors, such as Budweiser, Roc A Wear, Source Magazine & The PM Card have signed on to support the highly anticipated Carolina Music Awards. Likewise, a number of acclaimed artists—names to be released soon—are scheduled to participate as presenters and performers at the event.
The Carolina Music Awards event is billed as the first dual state (NC & SC) awards event to recognize artists, representing almost every genre, on one stage. Omar McCallop, President of O ENT/TET and event director, stated that "We are ecstatic and speechless about the level of support that we have received locally, regionally, and nationally. I hope we do not run out of seats!!!!" With about a month until the event's debut, organizers are preoccupied with ensuring that the event becomes the most anticipated entertainment attraction for years to come. "An annual gathering like the Carolina Music Awards is a big deal for our area. It's sure to establish a contingency of followers, thereby benefiting a multitude of business owners who provide services to artists, their promoters and fans." said McCallop.

The Carolinas are a budding area for music, its main cities are growing everyday and labels are taking a hard look at NC/SC for artist. With that said the Carolina Music Awards is one of the major events of the South.
The Carolina Music Awards is something that has been on our plate for a long time and with all that is happening on the music scene in the Carolinas we feel the time is NOW! We are focused on one singular objective, the development of the music industry in the Carolinas, encouraging growth in our music present and future. The CMAs is so dedicated to our mission; we are the only awards show that is donating THE PROCEEDS OF THIS EVENT TO MUSIC PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN! This event and donation is made possible thanks to ICEA (International Charity & Education Association). The Carolina Music Awards is about more than money, it’s about more than flash, swagger and good music, even though it is all those things, it’s mostly about being heard and giving future artist and musicians a chance.
The CMAs will focus on the hottest music/artist in the Carolinas (North & South) in most genres; however we will give awards to hot artist outside the Carolinas as well. This is the official request for your support. We are currently looking for sponsors, advertisers, volunteers and anyone that is interested in supporting the CMAs/music in the Carolinas.
We are also in the development stages of an Advisory Committee for the 08' Carolina Music Awards. The Advisory Committee will be the guiding force supporting the organizers of the CMAs with their insight, knowledge and resources. Together we will ensure that the Carolina Music Awards is a success.
