".................an impressively accurate tribute band called The Dan Collective"
“……………….. Singer/Pianist Chris Watts was a spit for the young Donald Fagen.â€
“……………….Fortunately, guitarist Andy Hagiioannu had the licks but not the looks (lugubrious walrus moustache) of Steely Dan's erstwhile guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter."

In 1996, Steely Dan toured in the UK for the first time for well over 20 years and their appearances on this side of the pond inspired much feverish activity and renewed enthusiasm on the part of their sizeable and dedicated fan base.
From those heady days arose much frantic recruitment and rehearsal and, eventually, the fabled Birmingham based 10piece Danny Steel Orchestra who rapidly became prime purveyors of all things Steely and, indeed, remained so for a number of years thereafter. They regularly beat a winding path to the more outlandish venues of this sunny isle to quench the ever growing public thirst for live renditions of the seminal works of Messrs Fagen and Becker a.k.a. Steely Dan.
Upon the premature demise of the DSO in late 2002, the hub of the rhythm section, Chris Watts on Fender Rhodes and Vocals and Neil Thompson on Electric Bass, began to ponder the feasibility of presenting this stunning music in a more manageable format and they subsequently enjoyed a short run of successful appearances together with ace jazz and rock drummer Ian Beestin, veteran of the UK music scene and saxophonist and jazz luminary, Ian Hill.
There followed an extended hiatus and much reflection which, happily, has culminated in the recruitment to the Collective ranks of Andy Hagiioannu, the jazz guitarist whose debut album “Far and Wide†is currently enjoying ecstatic reviews both here in the UK and in the USA.
The prime motivation behind this exciting project is to present a vibrant live experience, faithfully capturing the dynamics, energy and subtle nuance of a Steely Dan concert whilst at the same time showcasing the exceptional musical and vocal talents of the players involved allowing them to express their heartfelt appreciation and respect for this much loved music.
