Vermont's Sweetest: The Shugarmakers

About Me

The Shugarmakers are an acoustic band born in 1999 in the hills of Vermont and New Hampshire. The three original band members, Connie Button (Lead vocals), Dr. David Indenbaum (Upright Bass), and Norm Labrecque (Rhythm Guitar) played out together as an acoustic trio for a while before adding the fine lead guitar and vocals of Jeff Staudinger. During sugaring season, the band gathers at Dr. Dave’s sugarhouse for practices and boiling. Thus the Shugarmakers (with an “h”) were born. The band has a deep grass roots following of loyal fans. They are often joined by “guest musicians” including Spencer Lewis on fiddle, or George Lawrence on dobro/lap steel who sit in on gigs to add a certain flavor to a particular event. The band has a diverse repertoire playing everything from old traditionals acoustically, to classic and contemporary rock “plugged in” for private parties where people dance the night away. They have played at many venues in the Upper Valley including Skunk Hollow in Hartland VT, the Terrace in South Royalton Vt, Crossroads also in South Royalton, the Tunbridge Worlds Fair, The Orford River Jam in Orford N.H. and many many more. They are in great demand for private parties throughout the area. The band has a dynamic stage presence that says “We’re having a great time playing together”. Their musical energy is contagious, and soon everyone is infected with this energy. The Shugarmakers play sweet locally grown music from the hills of Vermont and New Hampshire.
