Hermit is not a random choice of name for my one-man-band. As long as I can remember I've been sitting inside alone for countless hours at a time, trying first to learn how to play the guitar, then learn how to play the guitar well, then learn how to write songs, and then learn how to sing. I am still learning. I was a social kid, yes, and I played soccer and all that, but I was the only kid in my class with a real passion for music. So between school and soccer practice, and between soccer practice and going to sleep, I would sit inside the room with my mum's guitar, a stack of Bruce Springsteen cassettes, and the Beatles' Complete songbook.
As I grew, I went to University, I started playing drums in a band called Mojito, and after that I played drums in several other bands. I even formed my own band, Baunen, which is still going strong. However, a hermit needs an arena for himself only. Hence, the one-man-band. So I built myself a humble little studio in my garage in Oslo. And that's where I write my songs nowadays, letting an occasional guest artist in every now and then (like my stepsister Ingrid, who plays violin and cello on "No Man's Land").
Besides the guitar and me, Hermit consists of a loop machine, a stomp box and some percussion.
I hope you all enjoy the music I've put out here so far. More will come!
Take care!
Love, HÃ¥vard/Hermit
