About Me

At first glance to the untrained eye this young man looks like a job opening for any unemployed hater. However, his type of swagger and nonchalont demeanor only scratches the surface of what makes him who he is. The Darlington, South Carolina native is more complex and has more different sides to him than a Rubik's Cube. As a child Kayda spent a lot of his time in two opposite environments. One being his home, where his mother did everything in her power to give him and his older sister all that she didn't when she was a child. Although the household was not hell, there were problems. Due to his mother spending most of her time trying to keep their heads above water and the large age gap between the siblings, Kayda spent most of his time alone. Instead of turning him into an introvert, it only made him more independent and gave him an "I don't need you, I'll get it myself" perspective. That same perspective would be the seed that beared the fruit of Kayda's hustler mentality. The time he spent alone also fueled his imagination by forcing him to find new ways to entertain himself. While in the second environment, his grandmothers house, he came in contact with all sorts of people. Each would have burdens as different as they are and would show kayda the wrong and right way to deal with the curve balls life throws you. Through his family and neighborhood friends Kayda would witness every kind of addiction from drug to sexual by age 8. His grandmothers house would also be the place where he heard the voice of his first love, music. It almost seems preordained that Kayda would be a musician. Not because creating it comes so natural but because its in his ancestry. He is the great great grandson of W.C. Handy, author of "The St. Louis Blues." Both his grandfather and father were aspiring musicians, so it only seems right that he be passed the torch. Grandmother's home was filled with countless amounts of 12inch records, everything from gospel to jazz to R&B. He would often find himself center stage performing for his grandmother and the visiting family and friends. Although all the forms of music called to him, none of whom's voice was louder and more dominant than hip hop. The one responsible for his entrigue of the culture was his sister. She often would come home from school speaking of he next new thing, the next style, and the next big artist. She introduced him to people like whodini, big daddy kane, rakim, ll cool j, brand Nubian, public enemy, leaders of the new school, n.w.a, snoop dogg, outkast, bone thugs -n- harmony, just to name a few. Kayda would later be inspired by his classmates and friends to start writing lyrics of his own. What started as jus something to do to pass time in his junior high study hall quickly became a passion. He and comrads all sharing the same dream decided to form Code ReDD. The group became his life and his life was the group. They began recording and before long they took over their area and all surrounding it. After high school most of the group relocated to Columbia, the Capitol of South Carolina, for differnt reasons. Kayda and fellow bandmember/classmate, Ludazh were to start college at the university of South Carolina. This would prove to be a trying time for the group as they attempt to juggle their personal lives, school work, and Code ReDD with half the group being in a different city. The years to come were hard but beneficial. As a result, the group aswell as Kayda, became more business oriented and more focused on their goal. The group decided to change the name from Code ReDD to G.o.o.N SquaD to start fresh. How ever their formula for making good music has not changed a bit. G.o.o.N. SquaD has opened night club shows and concerts for many national recording artist(s) such as: The Ying Yang Twins, T.I., Jadakiss, Master P, David Banner, Pastor Troy, Murphy Lee, Memphis Bleek, Trina, Youngbloodz, Mr. Cheeks and Crime Mob. They’ve received radio play on WWDM 101.3 FM, WHXT – 103.9 FM, WYNN – 106.3 FM, WSBF –88.1 FM, WUSC 90.5 FM, and WWWZ – 93.3 FM (South Carolina Stations). www.myspace.com/dangaboyent
