About Me

Jim Gourley is the writer on Mike Maydak's "1782: The Year of Blood", due out Fall 2009.
A native of Greensboro, NC, Jim's first work in comics was in third grade. Armed with #2 pencils, crayola markers, notebook paper, and a complete disregard for his teacher's lesson plans, Jim and a few friends self-published a 20-page Ninja Turtles comic. While the New York Times didn't review it, the work spent two weeks on the most-read list at the Madison Elementary School library.
Jim graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in Astronautical Engineering in 2002. He commissioned into the United States Army as in Infantry Officer, later changing his specialty to Intelligence. He served two combat tours in Iraq with the famed Third Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division, known as the "Rakkasans".
Now out of the Army, Jim is an accomplished triathlete and ultra-distance runner. He's a contributing journalist for Triathlete Magazine.
