About Me
Once upon a time, Rampage Skatepark stood on Two Tree Island, Leigh on Sea. Skaters came from from all over the world. In it's heyday, it was one of the best ramp parks in Europe. That was until it was bulldozed to the ground on 13th March 2003. A very sad day for anyone who had the opportunity to ride it.Years later, after complications with the land, it has finally been given permission for another skatepark to be resurrected on the site same site. The Council have approx £280,000 to spend on a Youth Facility. A skatepark/ basketball court/ football pitch. Why? iThere are plenty of the latter two in this town. Do we really need another soccer pitch? Hell no..But this is what they believe the kids want. Apparently, (if the recent updates are true) Southend Council may have alreay signed contracts with a company for this to take place!!! This is outrageous... Clearly this will be another useless so called skatepark, built for the kids, without any input from them.We must stop this happening. Potentially this will be built and designed by people with no knowledge of how a park should be designed/ built. This is your opportunity to have your say!!! Please HELP, you must contact the Council through the following link before the 5th. (before the next Council meeting on 6th December). Please express your comments/concerns on the following:http://www.southend.gov.uk/contact.asp?1) That we do not need another basketball court/ football pitch. What the people want is a good skatepark, a really good skatepark, to put Leigh on Sea back on the map. A park that you can ride for years to come!!2) Most importantly perhaps, that the park must be built/designed by an expericed skate company with heavy input from the local skaters. It is vital that the experienced skaters assist in the design of this park. Tell the Council that this is what you want. The owners behind Leigh on Sea's skatestore Switch, would ensure that the skaters of this town, have there say in what you need. Please suggest this too.Together with enough support, perhaps we can convince them to reconsider. Beg, plead for them to listen to what you want.
Please also leave comments/stories on this page, on why the site should be a skatepark, not a youth facility. I hope this will be brought to the attention of the Council to support our cause. So spread the word, tell all your friends and do something NOW!!Peace.bold text
