Guitares Sans Frontieres: an international movement dedicated to liberating the guitar from the blues scale. Guitares Sans Frontieres is for radical explorations in tone and technique, for the emancipation of the guitar from rote learning. We are for atonality, microtonality, weird tunings, noise and freedom. We are not anti-blues, but we resist the cultural synonyms suggesting that a 'good guitar player' is a 'good blues player.' We resist the identification of the guitar with anondyne male virtuosity. We resist cock-rock. We are sonic contrarians. We are Guitares Sans Frontieres!
