What am I supposed to do when everything I ever cared about was taken away from me within 1 defensive series, 2 separate knee injuries, 3 yards, 4 downs, 5 miles on the bus and 6 points?
A part of me wants to be so mad at myself for sticking around the football team after my injury. I really thought for a little bit that it was a waste of time and nothing good came out of it. Let's face it, we're 2-5 right now and this is the first year, since the opening year, that Shadow Ridge is not going to the playoffs. That sucks, especially for us seniors because not all of us are gonna keep playing football at the next level, so all that's left are the 3 games and we're done. Nothing else to play for. No state title, no division champs title, nothing, and for me, not a god damn second on the field. Then I remember the last Friday of hell week and I snap back into reality. Maybe I don't get a play in this season due to a stupid injury, but I still gained the most best friends anyone could ask for. That day when all of us stood on the rock and told each other what it meant to be a Mustang, we all had hopes and dreams of coming back at the end of the season with a ring on our middle fingers, waving it to the city saying, "fuck the rest." Maybe shit didn't turn out like it was supposed to, but before you go get all depressed like I was, just remember you still have your brother's at your side. Let's finish the season strong, play for our pride and for our brotherhood. It's not over till it's over.
