About Me

UPDATE 3/22/09
played a great show tonight at the high dive with two astounding bands: Fun Fun Fun and Mighty Tiger . please become fans as quickly as i have. i hope to play with them again soon.
recording and deciding to redo some early stuff.
UPDATE 3/10/09
songwriting in the kitchen, reading too far from home and wishing i was in space, writing, writing, writing, listening to The Bad Plus , The Long Winters , Nathan Veshecco , Travis , and Johnathan Rice , admiring George Harrison's guts, watching a lot of movies, eating food, waiting for march madness, and wishing away this weather.
UPDATE 1/26/09
I've recorded and uploaded a cover of my friend Nathan Veshecco 's song, "The Sound of My Face." Please visit his site and hear the real thing.
Also, Nathan and I have finally started a blog. The website is www.stopcallingblog.com . Enjoy!
UPDATE 1/4/09
The masked author has continued to instant message me to insult me, so instead of taking up space on my public page, I've decided to move the conversations to a blog format. From now on, however, the screen name will not be edited out; given the mood of this set of messages, they won't be quitting any time soon. Cheers!
UPDATE 11/7/08
My friend Nathan Veshecco has released a fantastic new single called "The Love Jerk." Please visit The Love Jerk.com and hear a preview of the song, and link to Nathan Veshecco.com.
In other news, I've got some new pictures and songs coming very, very, very soon. Thanks so much for being patient.
And here's a lyric to ponder:
"You can stand out there with your fist in the air / While the rest of us get on with our lives."
-Johnathan Rice
UPDATE 10.16.08
I'll have some new songs, pictures, and show dates posted here in the next week. There's already some new pictures up, thanks to my friend Ryan Fancher and his camera.
UPDATE 10.5.08
I played my first of (hopefully) several shows in Seattle a week ago. Though songwriting has proven a bit tougher than I had expected, I've got some songs on paper, and will hopefully have something recorded and ready to put on this page by the end of the month.
UPDATE 8.25.08
Recently, my friend Nathan Veshecco and I have been discussing possible options for a musical/business partnership. Nathan is an extremely talented songwriter who currently lives in Northern California. Please visit his site and listen to his music, as you may see a trend going on between the two of us.
Also, I have been writing new songs, or at least trying to write new songs. To those of you who visit my page regularly, thank you for being so patient.
UPDATE 2.20.08
Please check out my studio engineer's music. His name is Tom Dalton . He was a major help and influence on the No Disasters EP, and will be on anything I have in the future.
Thanks for listening.
Praise for No Disasters EP
Mike Lengel's music, reminiscent of early Counting Crows infused with the rhythm of John Mayer, sends chills down my spine. The beautiful, and sometimes haunting, lyrics force you to visualize the pain, joy, love, and loss he conveys. I eagerly anticipate the release of a full-length album.
-Otis T. Lantz, The LPM Voice
Mike Lengel's music is honest and direct, without being over-sentimental. Something refreshing and exciting in today's music scene.
-Matthew Brown, Emerson77 Music Production
