About Me
Miguel Guia has been glorifying music since always, having, while still young, teamed up with a version in an Atari St4, ascertaining, at the right time, his great passion for sequential/midi recording, something that profoundly characterized how he now composes and produces. In Portugal his name has always been connected to electronic music, specialy as a pioneer for the transition of analogical to digital recording. As a Co-Founder of World Music in Oporto (1991) he developed his knowledge as a musician, producer and sound engineer, having been a member of northern's band Dr Sax (1991/96), where, during six years, he was a guitarist and co-producer.In 1997, already in Lisbon, Miguel joins Som de Lisboa. This allows him to continue working both in sound production and musical composition, searching persistently for what seduces him the most, musical production. Together with Kika Santos, he establishes Mamasoul’s production company, developing masterpieces of various artists like Orlando, Expensive Soul, projects followed by him since 1998.In 2003 he recorded and produced Loopless, one of the more significant and promissing albums of portuguese electronic scene, receiving a great ovation by the critics and leading latter's own transformation . Together with Tó Ricciardi, who daily manages the studio, created Shelter Av., between other internationally recognised works. In 2005 he co-produced the documentary "Prova de Contacto", by João Mário Grilo, about José de Guimarães' work.
