About Me

Seeing new places, meeting new and interesting people, and taking more than a moment to smell the roses are some of things that keep life fresh, fun and exciting for me. I grew up in Chicago, but over the years have lived in several American cities for various lengths of time, including the Caribbean (which I still consider home), for a ten year stretch.

It was a chance meeting with film-stage-television actor, Yaphat Kotto that jump-started what evolved into my long, awesome career as a freelance writer. We met at a booksigning for a novel he'd written about his African ancestry. At the time I wasn't a professional journalist ... okay I wasn't even a journalist, but somehow I got the courage to ask Kotto for an interview. Shock of my life, he agreed. The article that followed was picked up by a local news magazine, and that was the beginning.

Since that time, I've freelanced for everything from major newspapers to major corporations. I took it to the next level when my first novel,The Secret of the Veil,a spiritual suspense that I'm told is a page-turner was published. To get a glimpse of the book click on my website at WWW.CLAUDETTEJONES.COM <Another interest is the Caribbean, particularly the Virgin Islands. My Interests

I'd like to meet:

PEOPLE I FIND INTERESTING ARE ...

People who, like myself are seeking to bring something positive to the table of life. I do, however confess to having a weakness for the more artistic among us. As an astrologer once said about Taureans, "You gravitate toward people who are a little different; the artists, philosophers ... the Toulouse Lautrec types." Absolutely.
I also enjoy the company of those who are spiritually evolved, or who are at least seeking. I'd love to meet people I admire like some of the great writers of this generation: Maya Angelou, Margaret Walker, and great writers of past generations: James Baldwin, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens. Wow! What conversations we could share. Regarding the last two, we would probably have to meet in this generation.

What about meeting and talking with Jane Campion, the director and writer of The Piano; what an accomplishment to write such a story, then bring it to life on the screen as its director. Meeting some of the cast of The Piano wouldn't be bad either ... okay, all of the cast. Then, if you get into other areas like great leaders ... well, this could go on forever!
