About Me

Hi,I play pedal steel guitar and regular guitar. My main influences over the yrs have been The Eagles, Little River Band, Dale Watson, ACDC, Deep Purple, SRV - and steel players such as Lloyd Green, Paul Franklin, Michel Rose, Ricky Davis, Tomi Graso.I have been playing regular guitar for about 17 yrs, and I took up the pedal steel guitar about 4 years ago because I loved the sweet sound of it. I then spent a few years with the country band Southbound as a steel player which was a great experience. These days I work regularly with a few different bands - but I like to play for as many different people as I can - keeps it more interesting.I have just finished helping Jack Pledge record an album which was a lot of fun.Between working for other people, I have a project going called the Chitlin' Brothers. This group consists of myself, Dave Roberts and my brother Daniel. Our aim is to record original material - that kicks. We have 3 to date which can be heard on this page. There are some more being recorded right now, once they're mastered I'll post them here. Daniel sings lead and does the occasional guitar part, Dave writes and does drums / added extras, I write and record vox / guitars /steel etc. Together we plan to take the world by storm...any day now.The Blue Mountains are home to Jenny and I - along with several of our canine and feline furry friends. The mountains are full of musos - pity there are no gigs up here. The day job keeps me pretty busy mon-fri, weekends are spent doing gigs, practicing the steel, working on the house, honing my barista techniques on my BOEMA.If you need a steel player for a gig - feel free to ask me!Damien 0412 169 439

Influences: All the good stuff:The Eagles (best songwriting / harmonies and playing you'll get), Joe Walsh, Don Felder (one of the most under rated players around), The Beach Boys(how about those vocal arrangements), Little River Band, AC/DC(nothing better than Phil Rudd and Malcolm Young playing together), Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Cash (even before it was trendy), Dale Watson (keeping the dream alive...), Willie Nelson, Asleep At The Wheel, Bob Wills, Mark Knopfler (wye eye man), Tommy and Phil Emmanuel (2 of the best ever - love hearing Phil play Blue Angel), the Blues Brothers (it's dark, we're wearing sunglasses, we got half a tank of gas....step on it), Chet Atkins, Guns 'n Roses(well...'appetite' was a good album), Deep Purple (Ian Gillan - best rock singer ever), The Cult, The Statler Brothes ('too much on my heart' - listen to that song and you'll never go back), Merle Haggard, Weylon, Stuie and Camille (amazing guitarist and beautiful singer), Brent Mason. Steel players - Michel Rose (best left hand vibrato I have ever heard - best right hand too for that matter), Paul Franklin, Lloyd Green (taught me that less is more), Bobbe Seymour, John Hughey, Buddy Emmons, Ricky Davis (best traditional country steeler out there).
