About Me

as hem syrup were a band in the early 80s which performed the music of Rob Vasey who was formerly with Dry Rib. The original line-up had Rob Vasey on guitar and vocals, Lindsay Lancaster on bass guitar, Ray Kent on drums and Paul Kendall on alto saxophone. When Paul moved on to other things the band for a while stayed as a 3-piece and then Karen Mence joined, playing keyboards. They gigged regularly in London, particularly in Brixton where they built up a strong following and often used to play alongside local reggae band, Son of Man. As Ray also played keyboards with The Times they also used to do double bills with them. They recorded a number of demos but nothing was ever released at the time. Quite a lot of what was recorded can be heard on the Messthetics release, Whose Last Trickle.

I've already written a bit about Suspense on a blog in Dry Rib. It's been a fairly popular track in terms of airplay on internet radio and other feedback I've had. When we were putting the compilation...
