When BLACK EINSTEIN was a child he couldn't decide whether he would become a mathematician or a musician. As the son of jazz musician and a chemistry lab technician, who was also an African dancer, rhythmic mathematics and art was in his DNA.After rapping and making his first tape in third grade, he began scratching his mom's records in fourth grade and making beats in fifth. He also had a short stint with the Alameda Breaking Crew (ABC) and other B-boy crewsGrowing up, inadequate schools turned him off to both math and music and he turned to sports, but could not stay away from performing. In high school, he began rapping after being inspired by an English teacher and improvisational theatre class. In 1999, he began rapping with a childhood aquaitance Chance and performed at local HipHop events and raves under the alias James Flames, eventually creating the group, "989" with another local B-boy Frost. Not being able to get beats he took Frost's advice and went out and bought a program called, ACID. His initial aquisition of beat program software influenced him to use synths and other noises to create musical compositions. He later came across Fruity Loops in 2002 and it has since been his weapon of choice. He began making beats for upcoming artists and in 2003 produced the "Island Boy Mixtape." He is the most sought after producer in Alameda who has yet to release any material. Sitting on timeless beats from 2004, he is set to take Bay Area music to new heights while solidifying the creativity of his native Island in the musical soundscape of Northern California.
