About Me

Simms is a master Turntablist and Beatsmith who has been in many turntable battles. Simms has been mixing since 1982. He remembers seeing Grand Master Flash mixing in the Bronx as a young boy and was blown away by his music selection and his super fast hands. Born and raised in west Philadelphia Simms perfected his craft and began to form friendships with DJ Jazzy Jeff, Cash Money, Kid Swift, K.D., Baby DST, Tat Money, and DJ Miz.He also did pre-production work for the song "Parents just don't understand" which won Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince a Grammy. Shortly after Simms signed a major deal with Ruff House Records with childhood friends K-Smooth, Basun Beats, and Tony C but the release never happened due to a failed Columbia distribution deal. Simms gave up due to so many disappointments in his life. In 1991 he met his wife Deborah and she motivated Simms to return back to his craft. He is a awesome Beatsmith and owns about 5,800 plus collectible records. Simms has formed a bond with fellow record collector Victor Henderson and they have a DJ group called the Champa Bro's Look out for promotional rare groove mixes and a upcoming album titled "Boardwalk Dreams due out in March 2008
