Asocial Butterfly

The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

About Me

Asocial adj. Unable or unwilling to conform to normal standards of social behavior; antisocial.

I AM NOT GOTHIC.
Or emo.
I do wear a lot of dark clothing. I also tend to like and find inspiration in darker themes and imagery. I'm not sick, evil, or depressed. Thank you.

Yes, yes. I know my profile is unusually...cheery. I just thought it might deter the goth comments. haha That and I was bored with my last layout since I'd had it pretty much from the beginning. I want to design a DIV layout...eventually. Right now I'm designing one for someone else though so the cheery stuff stays.
I don't think a few words can really describe anyone, but here we go...
I'm originally from a few places as I like to say. I'm reserved until you get to know me. I observe more than I participate. Hence, Asocial Butterfly. I have the best group of friends ever, but I don't make friends easily. I'm hard to get to know. Once you are a friend, I am a good one. My weakness is the heart I wear on my sleeve. I may be nice and probably still a bit of a sucker for the underdog, but don't mistake my compassion for weakness. I've learned the hard way when to say when, so once you cross me there is no going back. I'm not spiteful, but I never forget. I'm sarcastic and easily amused. It's a funny combination when you see it in action. I don't fit one group, stereotype, or label (see above). I tend to fit a few and think that the whole idea of trying to sum people up is absurd. I have certain set beliefs and I continue to make sense of the rest. That fact does very much control how I live my life, but not how I see fit for everyone else to live theirs. I try not to judge people because I don't believe it's fair. I am open to people's thoughts, ideas, and beliefs even if they aren't my own. Just because I don't look at things the same way you do doesn't mean that I think you're wrong. I am a big fan of many things retro - music, fashion, furniture, etc. I like to think I was born too late...just not too late to appreciate the best parts of yesteryear. I like to be creative. I write, I take pictures, and I paint. Most of the competing I do is with myself. I over analyze most things in my life. I can't even buy a pair of shoes without weighing the pros and cons first. I just recently finished a web site design program and plan to return to school in the fall for my Bachelors in Education Psychology...my Masters and possibly my Doctorate if I'm brave. I'm at an interesting phase in my life. I'm an adult living at home and for the first time in a long time living my own life again. Though the one person that put my life on hold was the one I always sought out for advice. With that gone, it's been an interesting try indeed. I'm far from perfect, but strive for perfection nonetheless. That's pretty much me. If by chance you think there is more to know, feel free to ask.

Kurt Cobain, Anthony Michael Hall, and you.

I've had Myspace for almost three years now. Three years after the fact, I'm now making it possible to search for me by my given name. The reason for the change is that I've been nostalgic recently and looking up old friends. The trouble being is that I can't find a few and I guess I'm giving them a chance to find me. I have a feeling that this is a really REALLY bad idea on my part because, let's face it, I quit talking to some of you for a reason. *ahem* That said, I'll ignore the feeling...for now.

It was a really REALLY bad idea...

• People who are all about themselves. I have no intention of joining your one member fan club, so move along.

• People that ask me some really stupid and obvious questions...especially if I’ve already answered. I really hate repeating myself. Read before you ask questions, and when you ask questions pay attention.

• Guys who think it's ok to call me "honey", "babe", "baby", "sweetheart", "doll", or anything of that nature. Don’t do that unless you know me. It bugs me. I have a name. If you want it, ask.

• People who would add me just to look popular. It's people like you that make me more likely to add bands than actual people. Don’t waste my time or yours feigning interest in adding me if you are only trying to boost your numbers. You either have a good reason to add me, or you don’t. I assure you, I won’t be crying myself to sleep if you choose not to.

• People who don’t plan on posting past "Thanks for the add". Lack of communication = your deletion. Don’t bore me. Have something to say.

SPECIAL NOTE TO BANDS:
Ok, I'm just on this side of blocking bands from adding me. I would have to log into Myspace on a daily basis to keep up with the add requests and, frankly, even if I had the time I'm just not that interested. Don't get all butt hurt if your request is denied. There's a 99% chance it will happen. Nothing personal, I would just prefer to find bands on my own. Or it is personal and I thought your band sucked. Either way, you'll get over it.

SPECIAL NOTE TO CHRISTIAN BANDS:
If you send me an add request and I deny it, there is definitely nothing personal. I really admire and support what you do. The dismissal is only because your style isn't my taste.

Music:

My taste in music is varied. I like a lot of artists and genres people wouldn’t expect. Here is an idea of what I mean.
