NOVERMBER EDITION 2004At 6’3â€, and 215 pounds, the 22 year old, blue-eyed reggae sensation known as “Bigga Staar†would grab the attention of any room, even if he weren’t holding a mic. However, as a recent audience of thousands at the Miami Arena learned “Bigga†who has been dubbed the “Eminem of Dancehall Reggae†works the stage with enough energy to captivate any audience. As the opening act for last month's L.L. Cool J, Trick Daddy Concert,which ended up becoming a 20 state tour, as well as a featured act at February’s Bob Marley Festival, “Bigga†silenced the critics, excited the fans, and surprised fellow entertainers when he took the stage and rocked the mic with his hardcore high octane style of pulsating dancehall music.Influenced by such artists as Capelton, Bounty Killer, and Shabba Ranks, Bigga represents the new generation of reggae and dancehall. His music described as hardcore dancehall, with a heavy hip-hop influence “Bigga Staar†has become a frequent and favorite guest of DJ Paradox’s “Krunk City Radio show†on WJFP, Central Florida’s largest radio station. Parodox says Bigga’s sound fits perfect into the format of his top rated hip- hop show, even to the point where Bigga’s reggae version of the Trina/Ludacris hit “Be Alright†received more requests than the original on over 95 stations local and abroad. Bigga keeps his live skills current and honed by performing regularly at some of the hottest clubs from South Beach, to West Palm Beach, where he has established himself as one of the areas hottest young talents.For the last six years Bigga has been working with the Producer, Henry K, who recently moved from Kingston, Jamaica to South Florida where he opened up his own recording studio. Henry K who’s last four albums have made the Billboard Charts, and who has established himself as one of reggae music’s premier producers, recognized Bigga's talent and uniqueness from their first meeting. Since then he has taken his time developing Bigga’s skills as a vocalist and songwriter. Teaming him up with established Jamaican DJ’s, singers, musicians, and engineers has given Bigga a further understanding of the discipline, patience and dedication it takes to be successful in the music business. Bigga not only knows what it takes, but he has what it takes. His debut 12â€, which was released on AV8 Records in March, is getting both club and radio play, and was said to be one of the hottest reggae tracks of 2003 quoated by a journalist with Reggae Gold magazine. Bigga Staar is currently working on his 1st solo album which will be released this year by Universal Records.
