Born November of 84' Monique Poetikiss Daniels (maiden name Lewis) was raised in New Haven, CT(Brookside Avenue Projects to be exact). Poetikiss can be described as a bold, outgoing and energetic woman with a smooth yet sexy swag to match. Poetikiss is a rapper/singer/songwriter/spoken word artist with a style of her own. A style which consist of street parables and stories on how she grew up and the experiences she went through while evolving from a girl to a woman, her lifestyle changes and her new experiences as a wife and mother of twins.
She not only spits hot bars or sings about the hood , she expresses her intellectual abilities by writing socially conscious flows and detailed lyrical pictures of moments in her life. Poetikiss writes her own music and can give a show-stopping performance. Poetikiss is in the process of building a name for her label which she and her husband Clinton Daniels are founders and creators of Lyrics Avenue Productions and Entertainment. While doing this she is putting out mix CD’s, building business relationships with producers and other artist as she pursues her dreams of becoming a business mogul in the music industry and the business world itself.
Poetikiss has been in talent shows and performances locally and traveled to cities such as New York City, Denver, and Richmond just to name a few. Poetikiss has been mentioned in the Source magazine “unsigned hype†column (September 2001 issue) for her contribution to a track titled “Inhale the poison†off the Caught on tape CD by local CT artist. She has opened up for 50 Cent at a concert in Hartford, CT and has appeared on street DVD’s by local CT artist.
The music scene isn't the only area she applies her gifts and talents. Poetikiss writes plays, skits and choreographs dances for community youth groups and a local church where she and her family are active members . She also assist with the funding and production of several events. Poetikiss is involved with organizations/businesses in the fashion field and non-profit organizations that help empower the community. Poetikiss is also the founder and creator of DANIELS PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM a program she created to give youth of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures, the opportunity to come together and express themselves through the art of dance, music, story telling and acting while nurturing their self-esteem and self-confidence. Giving back is mandatory for Poetikiss because it's apart of her lifestyle, the foundation of her company and a desire in her heart.
Poetikiss has a voice that needs to be heard. A voice that can encourage a nation to do better and perform great exploits in their lifetime. Putting her life on wax and heart into all that she does is what makes Poetikiss and her music so easy to connect to.
