About Me

..

Job Posting for Production Manager is on my blog. Click above on the one titled "Job Description". THANKS!!!

I'm guessing that what I think is interesting about myself is not what others think is interesting... however, it's been asked, so something must be said.I'm a social liberal, fiscal conservative who thinks that government should be in the business of disseminating power, information and resources to its citizens. I also believe that the Parties are far more interested in maintaing power than they are about actually helping people. It's time for a revolution. Not some crazy left-wing, social justice, money for public programs type thing. Nor some even crazier right-wing "the government sucks" mantra. I'm talking about giving decision-making power to people.I wonder what that says about me if I'm defining myself in political terms... S-C-A-R-Y!"

My Interests

Promoting civic leadership because we NEED to change the system, cooking with my CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) basket, walking, throwing house parties.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who likes debating the merits and demerits of policy ideas. I'm not interested in thinking about why something won't work (and therefore end of idea), but how we can improve what we've got to better serve our community.

Music:

It's really pathetic... I own roughly 30 CDs from the 3 times I signed up for BMG then canceled after I got the freebies. Just anything except heavy metal and jazz. So shoot me, I just don't like jazz!

Movies:

Sliding Doors, Mulan, The Princess Bride, Strictly Ballroom, you get the picture :-)

Television:

The Daily Show, Sex and the City, What Not to Wear, Law & Order, 30 Minute Meals (Rachael Ray is a goddess of cooking)

Books:

Actually, I prefer magazines (The Economist, Everyday with Rachael Ray, Organic Style, Fast Company, Self, Preservation (as in historic), Seattle Homes & Lifestyles, and my new discovery: Seattle Business Magazine). HOWEVER, one book that I have read does stand out: The Next Deal. Buy it, read it, live it. I'm also parial to 'Fast Food Nation'. Other books I've read and loved:He's Just Not that Into You, Cod (I *swear*, it is a book in addition to being a tasty species of fish), Freakonomics. From college, my fav is "Demosclerosis" by Jonathan Rauch. Brilliant. If you take it to heart, it TOTALLY blows your mind.

Heroes:

Eleanor of Aquitaine, Patty Murray, pretty much anyone who has given their life to make the world a better place. There are so many inspiring people out there, I couldn't possibly create a comprehensive list.

Homeward bound!

The tour of duty has ended! Although duty is really a misnomer. I left the factory today in tears... who knew I would get so emotional? I leave tomorrow, arrive in Seattle tomorrow night (9/5). Just ...

Humidity

The hotel is a damp, damp place. It has that funky smell when you walk in. Lately I've been opening the windows for circulation... problem is that the windows only open one inch, so getting any kind ...

Rain

They really don't mess around with the rain here. If it's going to rain, it might as well dump buckets. Everything floods, and everyone gets soaked if they stand outside longer than 10 seconds. The ...

Workers

We've got a desperate shortage of workers at the factory... you'd think with the billion people in China, finding workers would be easy. HA! So the Factory Head and I pow-wowed as the Factory Manager...

Chops

Apparently everything in China must be chopped 3, if not 4 times. You think I'm joking. I'm not. Our breakfast coupon (which, just to clarify, gains the bearer entrance to the Western restaurant break...

Candy

I know I promised chops, but this is just too good. Yesterday the power went out because of a freak storm. Tornado, really. It took out some tiles in our roof, and created a river in the hallway. ...

Driving

I had the most surreal moment yesterday. Per usual, our driver picked us up around 6:30 pm. The van: one of those 80s numbers with the outer markings and one-sided siding door. Thankfully the air cond...
