About Me

Pretty much, what you see is what you get. I'm very straight forward, real and not a game player. I'm equally at home in full makeup and regalia on the gothic/industrial dance floor or tromping through the woods covered in mud and twigs with my hair in disarray. I have an eclectic collection of hobbies, books and friends. I'm very smart, but I've spent so much of my time around geniuses that I don't always feel that way. I've hit the age where I'd rather drink water than cheap alcohol. I like high quality scotch, tequila and beer (particularly Belgium style beer). I love to cook. I've also become a bit of a food snob, at least when it comes to ingredients. I read A LOT. So much that I have my library bar code memorized (yes, pretty scary). I love dancing, something you know if you've ever seen me on the dance floor. I wear mostly black.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

An Entomologist. Really. I always have a lot of questions about insects and, while the internet has helped, an expert would be better. Especially an Entomologist who knows about bees.As for the wonderful world of dating? Well, I really prefer to meet people in person, but I guess times change. Eventually, I'll add something here as to what I actually want.

New addition: I'd like to meet David de Rothschild. He's perfect - passionate about saving the environment, an Olympic level rider, has a degree in naturopathic medicine, into organic farming, isn't American AND has long hair. Now, if he only likes hot peppers (with the number of hot peppers I'm growing this year, I'd better find someone who likes hot peppers). OK, I'll stop laughing now. I really put this up to see if Skyye is paying attention. Plus he does have the right interests, so if there's someone else out there with those combinations, let me know :).

A bit on books

Recently, I started keeping track of the many books that make their way into my life.  Sometimes I read for substance, sometimes for entertainment value.  Occasionally, I'm desperate for a b...

Orchids gone wild

This year, my orchids went absolutely wild.  They put on the best show I've ever seen and I attribute it to a combination of Pennsylvania sunlight and their stay at Main Street Orchids.  You...

Oh god, has it come to this? So, it's almost 2:00 in the morning on a Friday night and where have I been?  Dressed in black, in my most-lately created cute little skirt, dancing my ass off to Covenant ...

Carrots

Today I took one of my last rides on my favorite horse, Cali, before I move.  It was great!  She was moving well, didn't spook once and didn't send me to the hospital.  Definitely a goo...

Happy Orchids

So here I am in not-so-sunny California. We have had nothing but rain. And more rain. And then some hail to mix it up a bit. I'm begining to feel like I did back in college (Delaware, yuck), when ...
