About Me

The Technomancer BiographyRoy was born in 1988, in the northern parts of the cold and mystic place of Norway. Growing up, his mother and biological father divorced, and so Roy had to visit his dad in weekends. During this weekend, Roy was introduced to the world of computers, which made the basis for his huge interest in computers and computer gaming. His mom always encouraged Roy and fed him with all kinds of cool music, everything from Michael Jackson to the more unknown Planet P Project, that influenced him. Roy also got his first toy synthesizer, a primitive piece of technology, at an early age, and loved to play it. Soon he would get many more instruments, and during his teens, he regularly composed songs on his guitar and played on events when he reached the age of 15. But then Roy got into computer music by acquiring eJay 2 in 2002. He was fascinated by the music he could create, which sounded electronic and dancy, and he knew right then, what kind of music he would make. Also influenced by Apoptygma Berzerk, Roy got into the more industrial and underground kind of music as he ventured into the realm of FruityLoops in 2004. He made his first synthpop album with a microphone he borrowed from a close friend named Ulv, and FruityLoops 3. The album was more of an experiment than an actually good piece of music, but nonetheless, it was a beginning. In 2005, Roy had already become famous for his incredibly bad vocals, but still exceptionally good programming skills for his age, much from the help of his high school music teacher Bodvar More, who saw Roy's talent and potential and helped enhance it by giving Roy private lessons in studio techniques. His simple and playful song "Take Me Home" which featured extremely terrible vocals and a simple catchy melody, was accompanied by a comedy music video made by a group of teens who called themselves "Websnacks", usually making "stunt films". The video, which didn't feature Roy in any scenes(they replaced him with Julian, a locally famous radio comedian in Mo I Rana and Mosjøen) got spread and gave Roy a popularity he himself claims he could much do without. He felt the song wasn't describing his real intentions and that the focus he got was wrong. Although people around Roy supported him, Roy grew more and more tired of the song, and started slowly moving away from the happy and dancy synthpop he made and moved into the terrain of darker and more industrial music inspired by EBM. He made another album called "New Game" in late 2005, which was very inspired by Commodore 64 chipmusic, and also had a similar synthpop style, but it was still darker than what he had previously done. The single "Raygun" was made in early 2006 and was far more serious than "Take Me Home", featuring another music video made by the Websnacks team. Although the film was more serious and finally featured Roy as the vocalist, it still wasn't able to obtain the same popularity that Take Me Home had gained, although Julian still had a major role in "Raygun". They went with both films to a talent contest, hoping Raygun with its more advanced imagery and more serious tone would bail out, although it was Take Me Home, with its outrageous humor, and unbelievably terrible vocals, that finally got the judges' attention. Roy was crushed even deeper by this, which he considered to be the main reason for his new direction in music. He changed his name to Fox Fights Back, after a Commodore 64 game that Roy had fallen in love with, and made an album called "Synthethic" which he released on his new website in late 2006. Although the album still featured Roy's characteristic sound, it was far darker in tone than anything he had made before. Roy states that the reason for the name-change was that he felt his real name had been associated with "Take Me Home" and he wanted to move as far away from that track as he could. With "Synthethic", Roy marked a visible change in his style. The single Wild was played on the Websnacks-driven local radio called "Korgen Radio for Youth" or "Korgen Ungdomsradio" for a while and got many votes on their rating list, raging on the top of the list for several weeks, even beating his former single "Take Me Home". This was a great achievement for Roy, and helped him carry on making music. In 2007, Roy had his first serious homosexual relationship, during the making of ReStructure, with Tobias, who is living in Asker, 16 hours away from Roy. Everything was laden with emotions, and Roy wrote several love songs during this period that were intended to end up on ReStructure. But in May 2007, Tobias broke up with Roy, stating that the distance between them was too much for him to handle, and broke all contact with Roy, and they still haven't spoken until today. Roy fell into a long period of depression, which changed his life completely. His material suddenly became overall dark and serious, and he ditched almost every love song he wrote for ReStructure with no exceptions. His new writing style shifted from the poppy style he had on earlier material and into more distorted and hard rock influenced tracks. ReStructure would mark the most audible change in style for Roy, and this also became the reason for another namechange. "Technomancer" was suggested by Roy's close MSN friend Cid SilverWing, and so Roy completely redesigned the website for his new namechange. In late July 2008 Roy was signed on his first commercial label, Affliction Records and his next album "De:Harmonized" is awaiting release.
