The Honorable DHC

About Me

Dean Chamberlain was born in San Francisco and raised in the SF Bay area. Came to LA and co-founded The Motels as a crazyass funky Zep style band. Then formed the trio Code Blue and released 2 albums (Warner Bros., Enigma/Capitol). Was also a staff songwriter at Famous Music, producer, director, internet producer at DEN and FOX.com, etc.
After a hiatus from music, he picked up an old Harmony acoustic and started writing and playing again. He cut demo tracks with Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello) and Mitch Marine (Dwight Yoakum, Smashmouth) on drums which you can hear right here.
After playing solo acoustic shows around town and in the Mojave Desert for a year, he put together The Honorable DHC, a folk, country and roadhouse gospel rockin trio. Randall Marsh who played with DC in Code Blue many many years ago and more recently with Tom Petty's Mudcrutch on drums and Mark Thomas (Pete Anderson, Moota Davis) on bass.
They play at Ronnie Mack’s Barn Dance, The Echo, Cinema Bar, The Mint and other venues locally and Pappy and Harriet's in the desert, and played a few shows at last year's South by Southwest. They're occasionally joined by Carlos Guitarlos, Dave Gleason, Dan Janisch and others.
The band is based in Hollywood, CA.
Many thanks to David Jenkins at Truetone Music for his generosity with pedals and encouraging words. -------
Greg Burk (L.A. Times, L.A. Weekly) at metaljazz.com says:
"The Honorable DHC, a.k.a. singer/songwriter/strummer Dean Chamberlain, turns up the entertainment value with his new power trio plus a coupla femme backup singers, pulling up the roots and throwing in some surprises -- last time I saw him he brought up a bagpiper and did AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way to the Top If You Wanna Rock & Roll.”
"Inspirational...sounds from the all-star combo." - L.A. Weekly
"Your songs are awesome!" - Martha Davis, The Motels
"In the groove and going deep." -Bill Pullman, film icon
"Devastatingly great." - Brett Jenson, Brett Jenson's Death Valley Jubilee
"Yikes! Listening to friends' stuff tonight, trying to catch up, and darlin' I AM BLOWN AWAY! Keep me posted....I am completely knocked out! I'm going for a 3rd listen!" - Terry
"An unexpected treasure." - Deniece from Jackson Hole
