Here's all the formal stuff....I was born near the legendary town Glastonbury in 1980, and began singing at age 2, growing up in a musical house with a music teacher mother and a guitarist father. I began playing the violin aged 7, and loved music from a young age. Whilst at school I worked with teachers from the world famous Kodaly School in Hungary.
I favour early music styles, latin and italian languages, and I'm inspired by composers like Vaughan Williams, Clint Mansell, Michael Nyman, Faure, Tallis and Tavener.
I'm in the process of recording my album 'Requiem For Little Bird' with producer/composer David Norland in Los Angeles. This was my first go at writing solo after being in a band for 12 years, and i'm now hooked. I'm about to start working on new music for film and TV for Boosey & Hawkes.
But really the most important thing to me is to try and break the mould of the archetypal classical musician and open classical music out from an elite world into the world everyone lives in.
The biggest thank you's go to Hywel jenkins, who taught me mostly everything I know about music for fifteen years, Colin Rendell, for letting me roam free in the school music room and generally being the most energetic man I ever met, and my Mum and Dad for putting up with the horrible noises that violins make before you can actually play them properly.
