Tex Lee releases "A Song For Her"
Los Angeles, CA The acoustic rock stylings of Tex Lee are hitting the streets in the form of a new single, "A Song For Her." Lee's music is rooted in solid guitar groove, an instinctive sense of melodic construction and emotive content. Lee's vocals are the perfect capper to his straight-from-the-heart songwriting, the ideal mate to his guitar playing.
"A Song For Her" culls directly from Lee's life for its emotional core. "It was written for my girlfriend that I had at the time," Lee reveals, though he notes that "we aren't together anymore." The song is about the act of falling in love with someone new in a summertime context. The light but hardly fluffy sound of his guitar and its sweet melodies, combined with Lee's vocals and his lyricism come together in a song with firm roots in the human heart. It's emotional honesty but not emotional weakness.
"A Song For Her" signaled a turnaround in Lee's writing style. "The things I used to write had quite a punk influence. The new stuff I have been writing now has more of a folk rock influence. And I love it!" The album as a whole covers a broad spectrum. Says Lee, "There are songs about love, hate, break-ups..." And by and large, the tunes are rooted in Lee's own life. He bravely grounds his songwriting in his own very personal experiences. Those that don't are often drawn from the lives of those close to him. It brings an intimate touch to his songs.
"I am inspired by life, everything that I observe," Lee says. "God, relationships, both past and present (both romantic and friendship), trauma, heartache, love, world events, death" Previously, Lee played with the band Skip Tuesday, for which he played rhythm guitar and contributed backing vocals. He played on the album "A Place for Heavy Burdens." He is currently working with A&R Select, the world's leading independent artist development firm, based out of Los Angeles, CA.
