About Me

Gathered together from New York, New Orleans, and Brownwood, Texas - American Graveyard has set out to beat down the ear drums of audiences across the globe. Since Spring 2004 the band has been playing clubs throughout Austin and central Texas, gathering momentum and a following. A series of cast changes has caused them to regroup several times - the last of which was in January 2005.
Since that time they've been polishing their unique blend of country, bluegrass, and down-home rock-n-roll, while throwing in elements of punkrock, psychedelia, blues, and jazz. It's a sonic buffet with a little taste of everything.
"How to describe them? Hmm. Alt-alt.country, maybe. One of the coolest bands ever, they will rock you with a banjo and a blues harp better than 99% of the Marshall stacks out there." -- Randy Kirchhof

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: in the works " coming soon "
Band Members: Chris Watkins - Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica

Jim DeGregorio - Vocals, Guitar, Banjo

Doodle Cox - Vocals, Bass

Billy Jack Phillips - Vocals, Drums

Influences: moonshine, the Dukes of Hazzard, lousy jobs, lousy women,
prison, Conan the Barbarian, barbarianism in general, sacrilege
Sounds Like: If Hank Williams Sr. smoked crack cocaine, had a baby with
Pink Floyd, who then had its genes spliced with the Sex Pistols
and was raised in the deep dirty south listening to country and
bluegrass all its life - that child would fit right in to the American
Graveyard lineup.

CHECK OUT WHAT THE AUSTIN CHRONICLE HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE NEW CD - ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES (Feb 2, 2007):

"You can't always judge a CD by its cover, but there's nothing misleading about this Austin quartet's maiden offering. The image of some wayward soul passed out (or dead) on train tracks, with only his acoustic guitar for company, mirrors the music within: debauched Americana with a healthy appetite for booze, whores, guns, and everything else that makes life worth living. Knife-edged blues and fleet-fingered bluegrass are the order of the day; "Penance" is a song title and nothing more. Any payback from this litany of dirty deeds will have to wait until the afterlife: "Forgive me father for I have sinned, you keep the 20, I'll keep the 10." Even prison, one of American Graveyard's favorite subjects, isn't a deal-breaker given that "Prison Bound" sounds more like a vacation. Don't call the doctor, don't call the law, call a priest. Stat."
