Nice Up Here

Who am I to blow against the wind.

About Me

In early 2007 my friend Uma had a brain aneurysm.
She is thankfully on the long road to recovery but has no health insurance.
Follow the links below to help her out and find out how she's doing.

As for me, I'm really average. Okay, maybe a little above average in all respects, but not much. I make up for it by wearing really bright colors.

My Interests

I like to read. Playing music. Building things. Fixing things. Health Science and the Healing Arts. A good glass of scotch. A great cup of coffee. Scintillating conversation. Eating well. The environment and social causes related to such.

I'd like to meet:

Old pals and smart folks that get my gears turning. I probably won't be-friend you if I don't know you in real life...

Music:

Anything but new rock music, ugh! Anything that's good. I've been into some groovy jazz lately, whatever sounds like porno music...but classy. Check out Live Tiger Exhibit in my top 8, it's me and some friends getting funky.

Movies:

I like them all. Not like I'm not critical, but "good" or bad, I am generally entertained by all cinema, from a Troma production to an Ang Lee gay-cowboy masterwork. With a few notable exceptions: "What Dreams May Come": had to walk out. "Any Which Way But Loose": you'd think Clint Eastwood and a monkey would be funny, but...no.

Television:

X-files re-runs do the job. Oh, and that Colbert Report is Imprestigious.

Books:

Some authors: Michael Leyner, Michael Marshall Smith, Kurt Vonnegut (RIP), Don Dellilo, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Douglas Adams, Frank Herbert, J. R. R. Tolkien, Stephens Hawking and King, Richard Feynman, Jared Diamond, Chucks Klosterman and Palahniuk and That collective that wrote "Choose your own adventure", they rule! See some of my blogs, I've been writing blurbs about things I've been reading. I started this Book Club With A Social Conscience you should check out. I'm currently reading The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama.

Heroes:

People who make other living things feel good, including, but not limited to, my parents.
