LUCID DREAMING
Lucid dreaming: is the conscious perception of one's state while dreaming, resulting in a much clearer ("lucid") experience and sometimes enabling direct control over the content of the dream. The complete experience from start to finish is called a lucid dream. Dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming.
Have you ever had a dream where it seemed so real? It might of even seemed more real than life itself. Or have you ever had a dream where you were able to fly around at your own accord? Of course you have! All people have at one point experienced this phenomenon, however some more than others. Now just for a moment imagine having an alternate world you could escape to whenever you needed to. A place where you could calm your innerself and cater to all your pleasurable desires. Sounds to good to be true? Well it isn't.

As of myself I tend to experience lucid dreaming more often than not. It's something I believe EVERYONE should look into. Something that should even be part of the school curriculum. Lucid dreaming has been acknowledged ever since the begining of man. It's even mentioned in the Old Testament! It's taken a while, but even the scientific community is looking into this matter at a more serious level now!

As a child I used to watch this one show called The Odyssey. It was about a kid named Jay who fell into a coma after an accident while fishing with his dad. He finds himself in another world, a dream world where no one knows what an "adult" is. In the final episodes, when Jay awakens from his deep sleep, it seems both the dream world and Jay's real world have in tiny ways combined. This show used to be one of my favourites, along with Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Goosebumps. These shows have, if not anything more, given me a very fantasy driven imagination. I believe people who have a more fantasy driven mind (this could be in accordance to people who use their right brain more often) have more lucid dreams.

There are many sites and books you can read to discover lucid dreaming. One would be Wikipedia, it's full with lengthy information! However, one easy step in which you can use to reach the state of lucidity is to just tell yourself, when you're dozing off, that you know you're about to dream and that you will be able to do anything you want. It's as simple as that!

If you have any experiences with lucid dreaming, I'd like to hear about it!
We come into this world crying while all around us are smiling. May we so live that we go out of this world smiling while everybody around us is weeping. - - Persian proverb
