About Me

I guess I'm sort of stuck in a weird sort of left-of-field without any of the trappings of people who really ARE "experimental" and so on. It'd probably be easier if I had old reel to reel tape-decks and chainsaws and all that stuff because then I would be in a neatly defined niche.
Basically, I'm stuck with this rather odd playing style through no fault or desire of my own. The first band in which I ever played bass (a Sydney post-punk thing called Saigon Children's Choir) could not find a guitarist we liked (we auditioned 27 of them) and so I wound up faking guitar parts along with the usual bass stuff. And it pretty much worked.
And then I spent a long time in really straight places, away from any chance of being in a proper band, so I learnt even more about filling up space with only four strings. Just to keep myself amused. And now I'm finding that even though I am in a band (an undefinable Wellington band called This Charming Mystery) I don't get to do enough for it to be a real challenge. So I'm starting this page in order to put up my solo stuff.
Ciao,
Vince.
