Craig Amaker Bio DataCraig Amaker, a man who's life has truly been transformed by the power of God!The gift of music manifested early in my life, although I didn't recognize it as a gift to bring God glory. It was just something I did. I always sang, whistled, played beats on tables, etc. I was very key conscious, able to sing and imitate many artists. Played in concerts bands all throughout school and excelled. Went on to perform in many local bands around New Haven, CT. Playing trumpet and doing background vocals. Began to learn about music production and songwriting and started writing songs. All the desires had been growing inside of me to make music came to a screeching halt as I began to involve myself in drugs. Crack cocaine came on the scene pretty heavy in 1984-'89 and I was hooked. It was a dark struggle and it seemed like I had things under control. I was lost and bound by an addiction to drugs. There was no more music.......I remember crying out to God one day and saying God will You help me, I know You've helped some people before, but will You help me?? He showed up!! I was on my way to a rehab. I got involved in the 12 steps program and went meetings and did what they said to do. I got clean!!. While in my active addiction I met a young lady, who didn't know I was on drugs, I was just a "pretty cool guy to be with". She learned later I had a problem. We went through many ups and downs during those years. Breakups and make-ups, but we hung in there. Things got better. I got invited to a church service by someone at a meeting and I went. I heard the message of salvation clearly and responded. She did as well. We got married six months later and began a new life. We got in just a little bit and then we drifted away thinking we were okay. Life didn't spiral downward but we slowly got back comfortable with things of the world. Drinking and getting high, partying and living Godless.The tragedy that took place in Littleton, Colorado in 1999 was a wake up call for me and my family. I began to turn back to God with my family. We went back to church and got involved with what God was doing in this world. With tragedies like that taking place I felt, since we're not promised another day because of the evil all around, we'll live our days for God!!We've been in church ever since. We've grown through the good times and through the bad. We continue to trust our lives to Him. We are part of His body commited to Him for good works.My wife and I are currently serving with the leadership of our church as deacons. I serve in the mens ministry and sing with the praise and worship team as well as the adult choir. My wife serves in our churches information facility.We have two beautiful daughters who are now college students, who live the Christian life on those college campuses. Their both involved in activities when they're home at our church. We thank God for how they've grown up.We thank God every day for His mercy and His grace. We thank God for choosing us before the world began to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, Jesus Christ. We thank Him for the gift of salvation and eternal life!! We thank God for all of our brothers and sisters in Him.
