I am first and foremost an Artist.
I have been mixing colors since I was 5 years old.
I've worked in every medium, but the medium I like best is Food...creating a Palette of Tastes.
There is something Magical about the process of turning raw ingredients into a "Culinary Canvas"...and the Canvas that continues fascinating me is the Exuberance of the "Mexican Cornucopia", from its pre-Hispanic heritage to its Spanish, Moorish, Mestizo, Creole and modern additions...a gastronomical Amalgam!I can not decide whether the Colorful, rich preparation of Latin Cuisine indulge my Love for painting, or whether the mix of palettes and texture on a canvas made me yearn for Food...but I do know that when I stop Painting I need to Cook, and when I stop Cooking I need to Paint. They both feed my Soul! So, what is it about Food that I find so fascinating?
Is it the Love of peeling, slicing and chopping fragrant herbs, flowers, plump vegetables?...their virtuosity of flavors, and colors?...the intensity of the spices?...the places that they will trascend me to? ...the concentration of influences, delicacies, piquant and succulent aromas that encourage Elegance in eating and intelligent taste?I found my point of encounter where my adventures in Art, Food, and customs of Mexico and the rest of World converge, blending together to produce a Universal symphony with Mexican undertones. A framework of Flavors, Colors, and Textures...trying to express the perfection of the Past and the Spirit of the Present. A frame to display their Grandeur. This is my gesture of gratitude to Life, a life that I enthusiastically and dedicatedly wants to preserve the most treasured aspects of my Culture...a commitment and deep aesthetic discernment of the Natural Beauty and Artistic imagination of works produced by my hands.
I generously would Love to share it with You...the exuberance of Mexico, creatively perpetuated in the daily manifestations of my life: The Canvas of my Dining Table!
