You Thimble-Headed Gherkin - Professor Fate

About Me

Primarily, I spend my time split between my two very disparate lives. In one life, by day, I work as a senior-management type at a global market research firm. In the other life, by night, I play drums in my two bands: Gnostic ( www.gnosticmusic.com ) (www.myspace.com/gnosticmusic )and Atheist (www.officialatheist.com). That takes up 80% of my time.
I've been playing drums since I was 15. I grew up in Florida and spent about 9 years in a band called Atheist. We produced albums for Metal Blade/Warner Bros. and toured with metal bands like Cannibal Corpse, Candelmass, Gorguts, and more. The beginning of the end of that era of my life started when our bass player (Roger Patterson ) was killed in a car accident on the way back to Florida after a coast-to-coast U.S. tour...it's a long story ( www.officialatheist.com ) but it proved to be the catalyst for dramatic change in my life. I subsequently went to undergrad (FSU) and graduate school (UGA) and began a non-music career. Though Atheist broke up over a decade ago, Relapse records has re-issued all Atheist recordings (www.relapse.com) and quite unbelievably we're back playing - this time for a lot of people at incredible venues.
I finally got back in the music saddle, so to speak, when I started playing seriously again (outside of my basement) in January of 2005 - forming Gnostic with Sonny Carson and Stephen Morley (full story at www.gnosticmusic.com. We (Gnostic) just finished recording our new CD "Engineering the Rule." It's due to be released worldwide in early 2008.
There's more, but I won't bore you with the details.

My Interests

Drumming, cooking, scuba diving, physics, astronomy, music, and, well, lots of stuff.

I'd like to meet:

Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, The guys in Rush.

This is a video of my band Atheist at the Wacken Open-Air Festival in Wacken Germany on 8/5/06. The song is "Mother Man" and contains a drum/bass solo.."425" height="350" ..

This is a video of my band Atheist at the Graspop Metal Festival in Belgium. The sound is not live, but the footage is. We played there on June 23, 2007.

This is a video of my band, Atheist, at the Hellfest Festival in Clisson France on June 24 2007. It's the last song of the last European show for Atheist. The song is called Piece of Time. The last 2 minutes is the best!

Music:

Anything exceptionally well done from a musician's standpoint. That can cover a broad spectrum of music, but it mostly means heavy/death metal, modern latin-jazz, some classical, and other forms (not going to list 50 bands and every type of music... you get the picture.)

Television:

Seinfeld, Honeymooners
