Mark Hanes: Mark, and his wife Shimrit, have been in music ministry for over 20 years. Mark has run sound for UMJC conferences on the west coast, (when they lived in San Diego, and were members of "Kehilat Ariel" congregation) as well as for Marty Goetz, Joel Chernoff, and Israel's Hope. He plays oud (pictured), guitar, bass, djembe, dumbek, tubano, and other hand percussion. He also builds musical instruments drums (of the hand percussion variety), and harps (he built Shimrit's beautiful harp which is one of two he has made (the first being his prototype).)
Shimrit Hanes: Shimrit has been writing songs since she was in her teens. She played guitar for many years, but dropped it after she and Mark were married, so that she could concentrate on her vocals and raising the family. She has also been choreographing Messianic dances for close to 20 years, (both at Kehilat Ariel, and now in Wichita) and teaches dance. She plays the harp as well as singing lead vocals, and writing the majority of our music. She also home schools two of her five girls.
(this is her modest bio, I could fill up about a page and a half about how amazing my parents are, but I'm not sure they would appreciate that.)
Shalisha Hanes: Shalisha is "the right hand", helping as only she can. She has a knack for keeping things orderly (Id say obsession, but she would smite me.) She sings background vocals, and is contemplating learning the cello. She is very creative and loves to design clothing (her designs are graceful, modest, free flowing, and imaginative) and she cuts our hair, so its always a good plan NOT to get her aggravated. She loves photography and also plans -Lord willing- to make films of her own. You can see examples of her photographic work inside our CD cover. She loves collaborating with her sisters, and paints in her free time.
Adrielle Hanes: Adrielle defies definition, and if we told you her age she would smite us. She loves Jane Austin, G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis etc and intends to write something completely fictional, and shockingly true. We all believe she will. She likes to dabble in clothing design, though her designs are a bit "avant garde" and not for everyone. She made a lovely full skirt and bodice out of white and blue plastic bags, (which she wore over a baby-t and shorts, those being the days before she learned to sew). The kids at youth group didn't notice what they were made of until they saw them close up, and one or two missed it even then! (They were very meticulously crafted.) She has also made a netted vest out of video tape with a matching video tape "hula skirt" which she wears over jeans, and is working more recently on practical 'everyday' clothing... for a thirteenth or fourteenth century peasant. Some would call her eccentric. She would say something witty, and we would agree with them. =P
Kerah Joy Hanes: / By Shimrit (It would be weird to do your own bio, now wouldn't it?) Kerah is 20, and very aptly named "Feast of Joy." (In Hebrew) She has always been a natural entertainer, and kept us laughing with her easy going and unpretentious interpretations of the world and people around her. Along with Adrielle's love of play acting, and Shalisha's sense of order and design, the girls have regaled us (particularly during the holidays) with skits, complete with sets and costumes. Kerah's musical gift has been apparent since she sang her first harmony note at age three. She learned to whistle about the same time she learned to talk, and by age five had added vibrato, and stops, and began to whistle complex melodies in minor keys, with accidentals. She adds her voice to our harmonies, background vocals, and now sings several solos. She paints, cooks, plays guitar and harp, writes and loves creating plot lines and characters for her stories, she is currently writing some of her own music which she still has in beta testing mode, and has several songs on our new CD with Galilee of the Nations

Liorah Hanes: Liorah is 17, is strong in areas that some of the rest of us are weak in. She helps out on percussion, and has recently started learning bass. I call her the destroyer of textbooks because she is still battling the ever-present monster American education. Poor child. She is currently on a quest to find her creative talents.
Natanyah Hanes: age 11 is not in the band, but our myspace would be incomplete without her. She is her own woman; headstrong, independent. and absolutely energetic!!
