Betty Harris was born 1941, in Orlando, Florida. She is an American Soul Singer. Her recording career in the 1960's produced three hit records that made the Billboard R&B and pop charts: "Cry to Me" (1963), "Hiss Kiss" (1964) and "Nearer to You" (1967). Her recordings for the Jubilee and Sansu record labels are highly sought after by fans of Northern Soul and Deep Soul. Although she recorded some powerful soul singles with New Orleans producer Allen Toussaint in the 1960s for his Sansu imprint, Betty Harris essentially retired from the music business when the decade ended, going out with a bang with "There's a Break in the Road" in 1970. Now, three decades and then some later, she's back with what is technically her first album (her earlier recordings were only ever officially released as singles, although you can now find compilations of the singles as a CD), the Jon Tiven -produced INTUITION. Harris' brief initial flirtation with the commercial music business has made her somewhat of the lost soul queen, and it's a joy to have her back and in such soulful and feisty voice!Order The Latest Betty Hariss CD, Intuition, By Clicking on This Link:EVIDENCE MUSICYou Can Also Purchase One of The Classic Betty Harris CD's, The Lost Queen of Soul, By Clicking Here: SCHOOL FUND STORE.COM
