It’s hard to capture the true essence of Joseph Tobin’s music on paper. His raw talent as a singer-songwriter, musician, and poet can only be fully grasped by hearing his lyrics. Whether it’s a painful/heartbreaking night or a joyous day, Joseph truly conveys pure emotion through his music.
Joseph’s fascination with musical instruments started with a drum set given to him by his father. Years later in college Joseph began playing the guitar in his free time. Influenced by folk, blues, punk rock, and reggae Joseph bought a four-track and began writing and recording his own songs. He starting playing at parties, and local coffee shops in his rural Pennsylvania college town. Armed with a double major in communications and theater, he made a natural transition into music.
In the summer of 2000 Joseph headed west to California (where he spent some of his childhood) to broaden his horizons in music. There were a few set backs though..... With his girlfriend still on the east coast, he found music as an outlet for his emotions. While in Los Angeles he opted to bring in some instrumental help to give his musical ideas more depth. To keep the main focus on his lyrics Joseph chose a more organic instrumental accompaniment (a drummer with a small kit, and an upright bass player). With all the pieces in place, Joseph began playing well known venues and quickly gained a fan base. He is currently in the studio recording his first album rightfully entitled “Ride With Meâ€.
