SOUPY: "...the guys on my crew, they come from all walks of life." NUT-AT-THE-DOOR: "They never clean their walks either!"Soupy is in "ad-lib while we get the record cued up" hell before he finally lip-synchs "Do The Mouse". Brilliant...
Great Tony Bennett song. I have the Duets album on my laptop and play it all the time. The Safeway supermarket chain did a brilliant, capital-B Brilliant thing this past holiday season: they used the chorus of this song (the original 60's recording) in all of their radio spots from pre-Thanksgiving to New Year's. That's brilliant, capital-B Brilliant because:1. People hate hearing Christmas music too early. and 2. People REALLY hate hearing Christmas music after Christmas. So, here's a song that's light, FUN, festive but has no specific tie to a holiday. The creative he or she at Safeway's ad agency who made that decision wins a Gold Star...
In honor of...well...my upcoming vacation (WOO-HOO!), here's the trailer to the first R-rated movie I was ever allowed to see. I was 11 at the time and we saw it in the theater on a Sunday afternoon. And I was quite the hero at school Monday morning for having seen it first. ; )..One more thing: the announcer on this trailer also was the CBS promo announcer throughout the 80's (picture that voice saying "A Charlie Brown Christmas, Monday at 8 on CBS!")....AND is now the voiceover for many Disney DVDs (now picture him saying "The magical story of Bambi...get yours today before it returns to the Disney vaults!")I love spotting trailer and promo voices. This is what makes me not just a geek but a Supergeek.
"Muppet Show" season 3 coming soon on DVD!..
