WOODSTOCK MUSIC CONVENTION-2008 TM
"The Legacy Lives on"
Be part of the first annual Woodstock Music Convention (WMC), to take place early fall, 2008, by making your business as well as your support of Music & the arts in Woodstock known and visible... Woodstock’s notable history & name in music is branded world-wide. It is now time to capitalize on that period in music history and move forward to re-establish the town's reputation of encapsulating an atmosphere of music & the arts.
CONCEPT & MISSION:
Bringing together a variety of music industry professionals over a period of one weekend to provide bands, musicians, songwriters, etc. an opportunity to attend diverse seminars & panels conducted by noted industry members including but not limited to: indie & major record label execs, producers, distributors, radio (terrestrial & satellite), marketing companies, public relations & promotion companies, booking agents, entertainment lawyers, managers and of course legendary artists. These professionals will not only lead seminars but will ultimately be part of a panel giving participating bands a unique opportunity to showcase live in front of the industry in one place at one time. This is an opportunity bands could spend years trying to achieve, however in this outlined event, WMC will bring a rare chance for these artists to gain major exposure from varied facets of the industry in a one shot deal! In addition to the aforementioned aspect of the event, there will also be an area with music memoribilia vendors, major instrument and gear companies (ie: Gibson, Ibanez, etc.) as well as local and independent instrument companies in which to exhibit, sell, or trade their products. This is an excellent opportunity for sponsors to be exposed to a large audience, and for WMC to barter with sponsors for 'prizes' for the artists/bands. A tour of all WMC participating local recording studios will be provided for industry guests only, thus giving some of our fine area studios some exposure to producers and other industry execs who may be unaware of the facilities just 90 minutes from NYC. A rock poster art/photography exhibit/auction will take place at the convention, featuring one of the most valuable and rare rock poster/handbill art collections in existance. Pieces include the original 'Woodstock', Jimi Hendrix, and Fillmore East & West. This exhibit presents the 'art' aspect of music. Showings of rock photography from photographers such as Bob Gruen , Mick Rock, Robert Mattheu & Elliot Landy are also in the works. This event (panels, showcases, exhibits) will be open to the public for a reasonable fee, by the day or entire weekend. The bands will submit CD's and demos to be considered for live showcase. Winning artists/bands could receive prizes that may include being a 'featured artist' on myspace, a record deal, distribution deal, limited time radio & video marketing and PR, recording studio time, endorsements from guitar or other instrument companies etc... No matter what the final outcome, all artists/bands will have an opportunity for major exposure. The event will end with a 'superstar celebrity musician jam'. Attendees will receive gift bags including the WMC guide and a variety of products from our sponsors and participating industry companies. Industry attendees may also leave with CD's from participating artists/bands.
MISSION STATEMENT FOR BANDS
Be part of the first annual Woodstock Music Convention, to take place on the weekend of August 16th-17th, 2008, (The 39th anniversary of the original concert) bands and musicians of all genre's are invited to submit their CD,s and demos to be reviewed by a panel of music industry professionals. Unlike any other music related forum, The WMC is NOT a "Battle of the bands", a festival or any type of event that using a voting system to decide a winner. The WMC is simply an industry showcase where bands and artists have an opportunity to 'showcase' their music in front of a panelist of noted, real industry professionals,( (Major & Indie record label execs and A&R, Noted Producers, Publishing Companies, music marketing & promotions, national booking agents, radio, press, world-wide distributors and Legendary musicians.) gathered in one place at one time. Upon review of submissions, selected bands in various genre's will be chosen and invited to perform live. Finalist may recieve a record and/or distribution contract, recording studio time, gear and more! MOST IMPORTANTLY, This is a rare opportunity for your band and music to gain major EXPOSURE to the legit music industry execs and potential vital connections within music publishing, touring, distribution, radio play, marketing, producers, studios leading to all facets to get recognition and success towards your bands future goals. During the convention bands & musicians, songwriters will have the opportunity attend various panels and seminars led by industry pro's to provide valuable information and insight as to how to market, publish, distribute, tour, get radio airplay ect...to expose your music to the 'right' people and maximize realistic opportunities to 'make it'. BANDS/MUSICIANS: WMC GAURANTEE:
As stated on our official site you, as a submitted band will receive the following guaranteed perks:
*** Your band will be featured with a link to your website on the homepage on our official site as well as our myspace.
*** Your music/material will be evaluated by various music industry professionals who are best suited and/or specialize in your musical genre. (WMC Senior VP, Event coordinators/PR & staff do not evaluate or select bands as this would be unfair to bands and poise a conflict of interest. Therefore, as stated, only Industry pro's will evaluate.)
*** Two band members gain free admission to the convention with VIP status,(a $75.00 value per person) allowing you to attend all panels, seminars & events thus providing you the opportunity to meet industry & solicit your CD's Demos ect...to various industry attendees. Additional band members attending receive a discount fee to convention.
***Bands are welcomed to sell & promote their product & merch in the vending areas.
*** Your band will receive a free listing in our industry guide with band name & contact info.
*** Interested bands will be contacted & invited to play live at one of our monthly WMC Industry shows at the Colony in Woodstock, NY. leading up to the convention.
Selected bands: Upon complete & careful evaluations by our industry Exec's & pro's, bands in each genre will be narrowed down for final selection. These bands will be notified and invited to appear at the Convention, receiving the rare, monumental opportunity to showcase live in front of our Industry panelists. Finalists chosen by industry will receive a variety of prizes such as potential record label deals, distribution deals, free radio, PR & Marketing companies representation, Publishing offers, gear and endorsements, free recording time at a state of the art recording facility and major press.
