WEBSITE |Front Counter are a 4-piece pop/punk/rock band formed in Melbourne late 2004. Band members are: Anton Hockey (Vox), Adin Constan (Bass), Josh Sforzin (Drums) and Rhys Thompson (Guitar and Vox). Known for their energetic live show and amazingly loyal fans, Front Counter are all about going on a journey of fun and inviting everybody along with them.
Front Counter’s goal has been simple since day one, to make catchy, energetic rock songs that get the room dancing and singing. Inspired by the thriving 90’s pop-punk scene, the melodic sounds of 60’s pop and the punch of modern day rock, Front Counter have moulded a sound that they are truly proud of.
In 2007 Front Counter set the wheels in motion with their debut EP ‘Tales From The Bench’, which was recorded at Sing Sing studios with producer Richard Stolz (Behind Crimson Eyes, Bodyjar, After The Fall) and was released in September of that year. In October, one month after the EP’s release, Front Counter won the Ernie Ball international battle of the bands competition (Melbourne), this win provided them with the opportunity to play at the International Taste Of Chaos tour at Vodafone arena in Melbourne lining up with bands such as The Used, Rise Against, Aiden and the Gallows in front of 10,000+ people. The competition was judged by well-respected American industry people such as, Kevin Lyman (Founder and owner of the Vans Warped Tour), and Brian Ball (CEO of Ernie Ball musical instrument company). Front Counter have also played with local Australian acts Behind Crimson Eyes, The Butterfly Effect and UK band Dopamine.
In January of 2008, Front Counter was selected to be in the Top 5 for a Triple M competition to support Bon Jovi in which over 3000 bands entered. Front Counter went on to win the competition by polling the most votes from the stations listeners and played to 13,500+ people at the Sidney Meyer music bowl on Saturday January the 19th 2008. When announcing the winner for the competition Bon Jovi guitarist, Richie Sambora, said, “I really love your song ‘What’s Your Name’.†‘What’s Your Name’ has since been added to the Sunday local program on Triple M Melbourne and has received airplay on Nova, PBS as well as various other community radio stations throughout Australia. The song also came in at 94 in Pete and Myf’s Australia Day bbq countdown on Triple M.
2008 is set to be a massive year for Front Counter. The band will be recording a video for their song ‘What’s Your Name’, as well as live gigs and continuous promotion ensuring the steep growth of the band continues and no momentum is lost. ‘Tales From The Bench’, to be released on I-tunes in mid March, which will coincide with Front Counter featuring on the ‘This is Killer’ compilation CD, which will be distributed Australia wide at shows and festivals along with other bands such as Shihad and All Time Low.
Front Counter, a self funded band, have managed themselves since their inception. The band have jumped at every opportunity, taken every risk as well as overcome many challenges along the way. With their never say die attitude, high level of professionalism and enthusiasm, as well as being armed with an arsenal of catchy, energetic songs, Front Counter are ready to take their sound and show to the next level.
