About Me

www.mandylawson.com Mandy Lawson is a mixed media painter and sculptor whose work captures the dynamic moment of connection between objects, people, and emotions. She is especially inspired by the thrilling diversity of humanity contained within an existence that ultimately links us all together. [Taking a cue from Jackson Pollock,] Mandy's compositions fully realize the expressive relationships between color and line, and the tactile nature of her surfaces add another dimension. Flowers are a frequent subject in her work; as with human beings, we may be drawn in by superficial beauty but it is the deeper layers and cracks of experience that are truly intriguing. Through her seductive use of layering, cracking, impasto and vibrant color, Mandy invites us to have a closer look at what lies underneath. She explores the human condition through the relationships of her subjects to one another, their interaction, communication, and alienation mirroring our own. She occasionally quotes children's drawings in her work. As an adult, a child's hand is difficult to replicate. Yet, the expression of universal experiences and emotions at each stage of development further illustrates the connectedness of all human beings.Mandy's paintings have found homes with numerous notable rock n rollers, country legends, record labels, magazine owners, performing rights organizations as well as many private collectors. Ultimately, she hopes her work communicates sensations of rapturous beauty, connections made and shared, and the universality of experiences that bond all humanity.
