I was born and raised in the greater San Francisco bay area. I have been playing the saxophone since the age of eight. I have had the honor of studying life and music with, Fernando Flores, Tony Archimedes, Frank Sumares, and Mel Martin. I learned so much from these gentlemen, that it would take a lifetime to repay them. I started playing with Mexican Bands at the age of sixteen, playing all over the Bay Area, and Central Valley. By seventeen, I was playing up to 5 nights a week, and was chosen to play for the Monterey Jazz Festival All Star Big Band. I had to compete, and it was not easy. I had a great time with that band as we toured Japan for one month, and came back to play at the Monterey Jazz Festival in Sept. 1990 with Dizzy Gillespie. It has been the greatest thrill of my life, (next to the birth of my son Andres) playing along side the master trumpeter. During all this time I always made time for school music functions, and always held school as a priority. I have played with countless bands, playing different styles of music. I have been blessed by so much, it is incredible. By playing the saxophone, I have been able to express my most inner passions out to audiences all of these years. There is much more to say, but I think I'll stop here.
Thank you for visiting.
Peace!!!
