The Xiitas (Belo Horizonte, MG): Group of punk-rock formed in middle of the decade of 1980 by Miguel Ed. Salomão (guitar), Ge Bicalho (bass), Nelson Avelar (drums), Júlio Coelho (vocal). In a constant exploration of syncopaded rhythms and almost the absence of melodies, the group formed a parallelism with punk and ramifications after-punk. Caustics guitar riffs partially microtonal allied to the minimalist drums (out of the beat), were the essence of the resonace of the Xiitas. Then, around the group, something as a “mini-cult” was appearing. It did not delay very so that the specialized press discovered: - ''The Xiitas attack in Palácio das Artes''(Estado de Minas), ''Like other groups of Minas, as Sexo Explícito and Último Número, The Xiitas insists on creating a proper universe” (Hoje em dia), “Xiitas, the machine of the racket shows for the first time today and it is in poster until Saturday '' (Jornal da Casa), '' Playing heavy, opposes expectations and breaks paradigms '' (Diário da Tarde). It was perceivable that the group had everything to work out. Placing the racket in first plan and promoting baffling formats, the group started to appear in some medias, as specialized magazines, TV programs, periodicals and alternative radios. Although the exposition that the group had, some facts had gained a bigger importance than what any one could imagine. Perhaps the joke is this! And for reasons that the circumstances and the involved ones only can explain (CID F), in 1991 the group interrupted the works. The group tried to remain in the active per many years, with changes of formation and in the intricate resonace. Nobody of the group died, in contrast, all is in activity, with more experience and ''opposing expectations ''.
