About Me

After her graduation from the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens, the Greek soprano moved to Paris and studied under the guidance of Irma Kolassi. She was awarded the First Prize at the International Competition of French Melody in Paris (1972). She later on joined the French Broadcasting Corporation as a soloist. She made her debut in Paris and has given plenty of recitals and concerts in Paris, (Salle Cortot, Salle Gaveau, Salle Rossini),Lyon, Rouen, (Salle Sainte Croix des Pelletiers), Le Havre, Genève, Budapest and other musical centers. In Athens, she has appeared on stage many times, notably at the Athens Concert Hall, in the series of recitals of the Athens State Orchestra and participated as a soloist in the concerts given by the Greek Radio-Television. She has also invited to sing in a great number of festivals in Greece and abroad. She has been established as a concert lyric singer, in a wide repertoire that extends from the arie antiche and Purcell, to German lieder, French melodies, Spanish, American and Russian lyric songs as well as works with orchestra by Ravel, Mahler, Wolf, M. de Falla, Theodorakis and others. She has covered an extensive French repertoire that gained her reputation as an interpreter: almost the whole of M. Ravel’s works , Chansons Madécasses, Shéhérazade, Trois Poèmes de Stéphane Mallarmé, Cinq Mélodies Populaires Grecques, a great number of Fauré’s Mélodies of his early and mature creation, Poulenc, Duparc, Debussy, Milhaud, etc. She sings in eight languages and has made many recordings for EMI Classics, Lyra, Musica Viva for which she earned extraordinary reviews: Lieder,(Musica Viva, 1990), Four Song Cycles,(Musica Viva, 1992), Melodies, (Lyra, 1994), Songs of my Homeland,(Lyra 1997), Songs of the World, (EMI Classics 2001), Lila Adamaki Maurice Ravel - Robert Schumann (Lyra Classics 2009). She has also interpreted works of significant Greek composers, between others: Mikis Theodorakis (Eros and Death, O Kyklos), Argyris Kounadis (Sketches for a summer), Yannis Constantinides (Songs of Yearning). She has furthermore made the inaugural recording of Dimitri Mitropoulos 10 Inventions. "…Warmth and passion", "a voice of immense beauty carved like a diamond","a voice of velvet, natural richness, a vibrating personality" "a unique blend of interpretative skill and vocal technique" "undoubtedly one of the most gifted singers" – are only some of the many words of praise written by the critics on the International Press…I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)**** BACKROUND: "A Pleasant Elevation" by Thodoris Kanakis
