Just Who Is...
...Patrick Sims
I am a simple to somewhat complex person. I am passionate about music, all forms of art, and fashion. The small details and depths of things intrigue me. Not that it matters, but my favorite color is black. My all time favorite artist are The Beatles (though I'm still building my knowledge of the group). My favorite producers are the Neptunes, Kanye West, Swizz Beats, Rich Harrison, Mark Ronson and Cee-Lo Green. I am not heavy into rap, but Andre 3000, Jay-Z, and Kanye West are all ranked number 1 in my book and most played throughout the day on my ipod. Usher, Beyoncé and Prince hold the throne as my biggest musical and entertainment influences.
Growing up in a warm loving home, I was able to express myself artistically at a young age. At the age of five my parents realized my gift of singing and immediately enrolled me in music schools, programs and organizations. I later began to develop an interest in and engaged in all forms of the performing arts. Since age 10 I have been trained in choral music, hip-hop dance, and theatre.
My list of accomplishments is steadily growing. Here are some of my most greatest achievements, thus far. In the ladder end of 2004 I played the leading male role of Daniel Beauxhomme in the musical Once on This Island. In 2006 I was blessed with the oppurtunity to sing behind Grammy nominated Anthony Hamilton at the Verizon Wireless Theatre in Houston, Texas. Also, in 2006 at Houston's Hawfienz Pavillion, I was an opening performer for SoSo Defs/Virgin Records recording artists Dem Franchize Boyz. In early 2007, I was one of four finalist out of Houston that made it to the finals in New York City for MTV's hit series Making the Band, season 4.
At age 21 I have evolved and grown into a strong young man and individual. I use life as a major force of influence through my music. Every relationship, friendship and past experience in general creates my artistic empowerment. My musical influences range widely from The Beatles to Donny Hathaway and Prince to today's hit artists such as Usher, Gnarls Barkley, Ne-Yo and Beyoncé.
My plan is to become a major force in music and all industries associated with entertainment. I am the writer, co-producer and arranger of all my music. With this current project I am working with Tim Ned of the Goonees, and Chris Rockaway of Rockaway Productions. I also have special features from Yves Saint of The Nice Guys. I write and record my experiences in an effort to help those dealing with the same or similar issues. “Real talk†lyrics accompanied by a smooth melody on top of a hard thumping track describe my state of mind and music. I will not end this with a cheesy and cliché closing sentence about me taking the world by storm, but I will close by stating that I love and live for this, and I pray that one day I possess the power to inspire and influence all of you, around the world, to be you and love you.
