Rays was formed as 3-piece band late 2003 in Taman Melati, Gombak by Ray‘Me (guitar+drum), Medan (guitar+vocal) & Joe Gila (bass) with different name, style & attitude. That time our band was known as ‘Masturbation’ and our music was almost totally fucking brutal called Black Metal (as i thought all Malaysian people already knew ‘bout it coz of Motherfucker Hot Propaganda in late 2001)....Besides Black Metal we were also interested in playing different kinds of music/concept like Death, Thrash, Grind & we jammed Street Rock, Oi! & Punk Rock at the same time & we acquire 3 new line-up from our scene, CM Metal Hordes… Our new cuties, the additional line-up for that time were Remi Azriq (vocal), Lord (bass+vocal) & Ali (guitar+drum). And after that Tobex (Skinhead) joined our band as vocal (sessionist) in Street Rock/Oi! songs. Our lovely bassist, Joe Gila decide to leave the band to further his studies..Tobex replaced the position. After a while, we went bored+the bad exploitation fucking shit propaganda by the media, some of us went slow & dropped from Blackend Hell of Black Metal..Then we decided to change our life forever & become a normal person, so we convert our Black Metal music to Street Rock/Oi! plus a little mix of Indie, Rock & Metal with our 3 remaining line-up. The rest are enjoying their new life..i think..Hehe...Our band name was changed to ‘Rays’ coz ‘Masturbation’ is not suitable for our new music/concept. In “This Is Youth Culture Compilation Vol 1” album, our band was written as ’The Rays’ but in malay it’s sound like 'Deris' (a malay name), so we decide to drop 'The' and recognized as only 'Rays'. But maybe we will change our band name once more coz in Myspace Music ‘Rays’ already usedL…& that’s why our URL is ‘rays2003’… OK.That’s all for this time…thanx coz u’all read our broken english!!!
