Jason Marks better known simply as Skyy, was born on September 30, 1980 in sunny San Diego, CA. As a kid, Skyy had always had a passion for entertainment. He began his journey with a 1st grade talent show that showcased his love for entertainment, including singing, acting and dancing. During his youth, Skyy embraced such great entertainers as Michael Jackson, Madonna and his Icon, Janet Jackson. She was his inspiration, the sole reason he pursued his dancing career.
Making his way into dance, Skyy began performing with the school dance team in high school and Sharks All-Star Cheerleading squad in Newport News VA. In 1999 Skyy moved back to San Diego, CA and started taking classes to broaden his knowledge of dance from Hip-Hop to Jazz, Modern, Lyrical and Ballet. In 2000, he embarked on his first major performance for Jingle Ball with Universal Recording artist Emily along side with Bon Jovi, Pat Benetar and Sugar Ray in front of a crowd of 10,000 fans. Later that year Skyy joined Fusion Force, his first professional Hip-Hop team. Over the next 3 years he garnered over 200 live performances, including Half Time shows, San Diego Chargers Benefit concerts, NBC Studios Live, Key Club Choreographers Ball, Sea Worlds’ Cirque De La Mer and The “Nutcracker†at Balboa Casa De Prado Theater.
Keeping with momentum of performing, Skyy stepped into the realm of acting and modeling in 2004. Performing at numerous local events in San Diego and Los Angeles, he interest in acting began to grow. He enrolled and trained at various studios such as Academy of Performing Arts and Culture Shock Studios. In the fall of 2006, Skyy joined Contagious Flow, a more diverse and upcoming dance group. He took another step in a different direction and began choreographing and assembling productions for his team and Chula Vista High School MPulse dance team.
Such accomplishments thus far, had made Skyy a profound entertainer and caused his drive and admiration for entertainment to a new high. Early 2007 marked his first major audition in years. Skyy auditioned for the coveted dance show “So You Think You Can Danceâ€. It was an experience he would never forget. Shortly after the audition, he submersed himself into ballet and technique classes with La Diego Dance. Here he would add 20 more performances in contemporary ballet and jazz under his belt, making him a well rounded dancer-entertainer.
The year 2008 has also been very kind to Skyy. He become a lead fitness instructor for FIT Athletic, filmed a pilot show for Fox and will be featured on TLC’s “Master of Dance†in June of 2008, featuring the incredible Tyce Diorio as a panel judge.
Skyy has been entertaining for years and shows no signs of slowing down. With continued drive and determination, Skyy’s path to success has become very clear and evident he was meant to shine as one of the world’s most intriguing and entertaining stars.
