Monica Attell has been described as the "Judy Blume of post millenium pop!" Her music is quirky and fun and it should be on your radar.
Monica is a classically trained flutist, pianist, and singer who holds a Masters degree from the Boston Conservatory. Don't let the classical pedigree fool you, she loves all types of music. She honed her skills performing with every kind of group starting with the Visions 2000 Gospel Choir where she helped the group win First Place in the MacDonald's Gospel Competition. Next she fronted the power pop group ZETA BANE and opened for Rock Gods George Lynch, David Johansen, and even Berlin. ZETA BANE won top honors at the Sony Indie Rock Showcase. But when that group broke up, she gathered her own material and wrote two solo albums; Band Geek in 2006 and My Bully in 2008. Performing with a trio then a full band, Monica rocked the Unicity Festival, CT Wine Festival, First Friday Las Vegas, and the Block Island Music Festival. Without a label, management, or agent, Monica got her music on Q104.3 FM, 99.5 FM, 104. 4 Los Angeles, as well as other internet and college radio stations. Monica was featured on the Unsigned Cafe on XM Satellite Radio and on NYC TVs program "Gigs."These albums, performances, and hard work earned her the attention of Izzy Gold Records and producer Chris Young who produced George Clinton, The Ravonettes, and Ashley Simpson. In late 2008, Monica completed her newest EP "You're Popular," for Izzy Gold Records. Monica Attell is the younger sister of comedian Dave Attell who can be seen on HBO and Comedy Central.
