Jim Pugh & Eijiro Nakagawa form an exciting collaboration of the eastern and western trombone worlds. E'nJ takes a fresh look at the two-trombone fronted quintet made famous by JJ Johnson and Kai Winding. Since their debut at the New York Blue Note, they have been highly sought for their crowd-pleasing concerts, as well as masterclasses and clinics. Celebrating the release of their third album, they've performed worldwide including concerts in Japan, Australia, and the US proving again that for player and listener alike, jazz knows no borders. Jim Pugh is known for his 25+ years as New York's first-call freelance trombonist. Having lent his talent to more than four thousand recordings, Jim has collaborated with top names such as Woody Herman's Thundering Herd, Chick Corea's Return To Forever Band, Steely Dan, Yo-Yo Ma, Paul Simon, Barbara Streisand, Tony Bennett and Wayne Shorter.Eijiro Nakagawa is Japan's top-call trombonist. He is equally at home on the concert stage, the recording studio, or in a jazz club. Starting his music career at such a young age, Eijiro has written a trombone concerto, produced several jazz and classical albums, was a soloist with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, recorded with the Brecker Brothers and has performed with Dave Holland, Wayne Shorter and Makoto Ozone.Jim Pugh plays Edwards trombones exclusively.
