About Me

I have the extreme pleasure of being a high school English teacher - hey PHS. Anyhoo, when I'm not enlightening freshmen and sophomores with Sophocles and Hawthorne and how to write a comparison/contrast essay, I like spending time with my husband, who is the sweetest guy I know, or playing with my son, who is soon to have a baby sister. I also like hanging out with our dog, Gracie.

My Interests

I like being with my family, reading and writing (really), singing at the top of my lungs in my living room, dancing, things that make me laugh, sunny days and rainy days and snowy days, gerbera daisies and chocolate chip cookies (warm and chewy) and earl grey tea.

Music:

ask Mike Cote, Kelly Wilcox, and Grace Hetrick

Movies:

too many to name, but some favorites include The Princess Bride, High Fidelity, Rushmore, and Forrest Gump

Television:

We just moved the TV out of the living room, so I'm watching much less these days, but I like to catch The Colbert Report, The Daily Show, CSI (Las Vegas is the best), Criminal Minds, and The Family Guy

Books:

To Kill a Mockingbird is probably my favorite, but there are so many good choices... Here are some books I enjoyed and recommend (I wouldn't be a good English teacher if I didn't recommend books) A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Interpreter of Maladies, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, Ender's Game, anything by Kurt Vonnegut, Chris Crutcher, and Barbara Kingsolver - that's good to get you started.

Heroes:

Anyone who goes against the crowd to do the right thing.
