Peter Castine was born in New York City in the year of the snake. He now lives in Berlin. In the meantime, he studied variously at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, the Hochschule der Künste Berlin, and the Technische Universität Berlin (composition, computer science, musicology, communications science; not necessarily in that order). Activities include organizing the International Computer Music Conference in Berlin (ICMC 2000), a stay as artist-in-residence in Bergen, Norway (thanks to BEK and USF), teaching Max/MSP at the UdK Berlin, receiving special recognition in the Haifa International Composers Competition, and fencing.
Recent works include commissions for Universal Ensemble Berlin (working title Complements to the Chef), Ulrich Maiss (senz’arco), Gimik (PNPLYR VI & VIII), and Ensemble FlAir (Vier Abschiedsgedichte).
